Alma Sanchez Pleads Guilty to 3 Pounds of Meth Distribution

Fresno, Calif. — A grim day in Tulare County as Alma Sanchez, 50, from Alpaugh, comes clean about her sinister role in the methamphetamine trade. The U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced today that Sanchez has pleaded guilty to distributing over three pounds of the deadly substance.

The court documents paint a chilling picture: On June 16, 2021, Sanchez handed over 1.5 pounds of meth to a co-conspirator, who promptly sold it on. Less than a year later, on Jan. 31, 2022, she doubled down with another two pounds.

This case is the fruit of a relentless investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Coalinga Police Department, Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, HIDTA, and Fresno Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Antonio J. Pataca is the one behind the prosecution bar.

Sanchez’s sentencing is set for May 30, 2023, where she could be locked up for up to 20 years and fined a million dollars. However, the final decision lies with U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston, considering all relevant factors under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

As the community grapples with the reality of this crime, Sanchez stands as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by methamphetamine distribution in Tulare County.
