Amanda J. Lavis, Employment Discrimination Investigation, Washingto…

Washington D.C. – The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has made a landmark appointment, naming Amanda J. Lavis as the director of its newly established Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO).

Lavis’ role within the OEEO will be pivotal, as she will spearhead efforts to intake, investigate, and report on employment discrimination complaints within the FDIC’s ranks. The OEEO, along with the agency’s new Office of Professional Conduct, will directly report to the FDIC Board.

With a background in legal and cultural expertise, Lavis was selected from a competitive pool of candidates after a nationwide public solicitation. Her most recent position was as Chief Culture Officer for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), where she served as the primary EEO advisor to the commanding general and executive leadership.

Before that, Lavis was the State of Hawaii’s EEO Officer, advising the Governor and Executive Branch on equal employment issues. In her legal capacity at Rhoads & Sinon LLP, she worked with financial institutions and other clients on employment matters and EEO compliance.

Lavis holds a Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law, a Master of Business Administration from Shippensburg University, and a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Messiah University. Her appointment marks a significant step forward for the FDIC in promoting diversity and inclusivity within its workforce.
