Grimy Times has learned that Amilcar Hernandez-Zunun, a 27-year-old Mexican citizen, has admitted to illegally re-entering the United States, a crime that carries significant penalties.
According to court documents, Hernandez-Zunun was removed from the US to Mexico on November 7, 2012. However, he returned to America without permission, an act that would land him in hot water with the law. On February 21, 2018, an ICE Officer arrested him in Cohoes, New York.
Hernandez-Zunun’s case is a stark reminder of the consequences of breaking US immigration laws. His actions are a betrayal of the trust and hospitality offered by the American people.
As part of his guilty plea, Hernandez-Zunun faces up to 2 years in prison. His sentencing is set for July 25, 2018, before Senior United States District Judge Lawrence E. Kahn. It remains to be seen what sentence the judge will impose, but Hernandez-Zunun’s fate is now largely out of his hands.
The investigation into Hernandez-Zunun’s actions was led by ICE-ERO, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward P. Grogan handled the prosecution. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of respecting US immigration laws and the consequences of breaking them.
In a statement, United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and Thomas E. Feeley, Director of the Buffalo Field Office of ICE, Enforcement and Removal Operations, emphasized the seriousness of Hernandez-Zunun’s crime. ‘We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our borders and uphold the rule of law in this country.’
Grimy Times will continue to monitor Hernandez-Zunun’s case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
