BANK ROBBERY STRIKES MANCHESTER
A brazen daylight robbery shook the streets of Manchester, New Hampshire on April 9, 2014 when Andrew Dufresne, 44, of Manchester, New Hampshire, stormed into the People’s United Bank, 1750 Elm Street, Manchester, New Hampshire.
Dufresne handed the teller a note demanding money and made his way behind the counter, grabbing bundles of bills in various denominations. The thief got away with a significant amount of cash but his getaway was short-lived.
Andrew Dufresne was arrested two days later on April 11, 2014 in Methuen after crashing a stolen car. The authorities had finally caught up with the bank robber.
The case was investigated by the Manchester Police Department with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Helen White Fitzgibbon handled the prosecution.
Andrew Dufresne pleaded guilty in the United States District Court to the bank robbery charge. The court will sentence him after reviewing a presentence investigation report prepared by the United States Probation & Pretrial Services Office. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 11, 2016.
The people of Manchester, New Hampshire, can rest a little easier knowing that justice is being served. Andrew Dufresne’s guilty plea is a significant step towards closure for the victims of this heinous crime.
