DES MOINES, Iowa – In a move to solidify the Southern District of Iowa’s senior leadership, U.S. Attorney David Waterman has announced the appointment of a seasoned team of prosecutors.

Andrew Kahl, a 35-year veteran of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, has been appointed to continue his service as First Assistant U.S. Attorney. Kahl, who joined the office in 1997, brings a wealth of experience in various roles, including Criminal Chief, Appellate Chief, Senior Litigation Counsel, and Professional Responsibility Officer.

Kahl, a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, has previously served on the Federal Practice Committee. A graduate of New York University School of Law, Kahl’s extensive experience in the Southern District of Iowa has earned him a reputation as a skilled and dedicated public servant.

Other notable appointments include Andrea Glasgow, who has been appointed to serve as the Criminal Chief. Glasgow, who has 12 years of prosecution experience in both federal and state courts, has successfully led investigations and prosecutions into a broad range of federal offenses, including drug trafficking, firearms offenses, and child exploitation.

Glasgow, a graduate of Marquette University Law School, has a recognized specialty in prosecuting overdose cases and has contributed to the Southern District of Iowa’s rank as second in the nation in overdose-related drug-trafficking prosecutions.

Additional appointments include Amy Jennings, Deputy Criminal Chief, and Adam Kerndt, Deputy Criminal Chief, who will join Glasgow in leading the office’s criminal division.

The senior leadership team will be led by U.S. Attorney David Waterman, who praised the appointees for their dedication and expertise in the field. ‘These individuals have demonstrated a commitment to upholding the law and protecting the citizens of Iowa,’ said Waterman.

The appointments are effective immediately, and the team will work together to ensure the continued success of the Southern District of Iowa’s efforts to combat crime and promote justice.
