A Tampa, Fla., man was sentenced to 20 months in prison for distributing cocaine in the Springfield area.
BOSTON – Angel Martinez, 40, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni to 20 months in prison and three years of supervised release on May 24, 2024.
Martinez pleaded guilty to distributing cocaine in Springfield on May 19, 2015. He was part of an 11-month investigation into cocaine, heroin, and firearms trafficking in the Springfield area by members of the Latin Kings street gang.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of 16 individuals in 2015 for federal drug and firearms offenses.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling made the announcement today. The Massachusetts State Police, the Springfield and Holyoke Police Departments provided assistance with the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Katharine A. Wagner of Lelling’s Springfield Branch Office prosecuted the case.
The exact criminal charges against Martinez include distributing cocaine. He was arrested in connection to cocaine distribution in the Springfield area.
Martinez was sentenced to 20 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
The crime occurred on May 19, 2015, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
