Krystal Scott, Animal Crushing, Indiana 2021

INDIANAPOLIS – Krystal Scott, 24, of Kokomo, is trading the fleeting freedom of supervised release for another 18 months in federal prison. The repeat offender, already branded an animal abuser, admitted to violating the terms of her release, proving she’s incapable of changing her depraved ways.

Scott first came to the attention of federal authorities in November of 2021 when she pleaded guilty to Animal Crushing, a particularly vile violation of the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (Title 18, United States Code, Section 48(a)). She operated under an alias, luring unsuspecting victims offering lost pets online. The promise? Adoption and care. The reality? A gruesome spectacle of torture and death. Scott filmed herself deliberately inflicting horrific injuries – crushing, suffocating, impaling – on helpless animals, then broadcasted the atrocities online.

Her initial sentence – 30 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release – clearly wasn’t enough of a deterrent. Released in June of 2023, Scott was back in trouble less than two years later. Evidence presented at a revocation hearing on July 29, 2025, revealed Scott brazenly violated the explicit condition of her release prohibiting any contact with animals. She used the alias “Teal Serain” to prey on those desperately seeking to reunite with their lost companions.

The pattern was chillingly familiar. Scott responded to a Facebook ad for a lost dog, falsely claiming the animal belonged to her family. The concerned owners, growing suspicious, contacted law enforcement. While the dog Scott snatched remains missing, a far more disturbing discovery was made. Witnesses reported finding a deceased dog near Scott’s homeless encampment, discarded in a trash bag with its internal organs spilling out.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services raided Scott’s U-Haul van, uncovering a mobile menagerie of neglect. Twelve dogs and cats were found living in squalor – dehydrated, malnourished, and wallowing in excessive fecal matter. The stench of decay permeated the vehicle, hinting at further horrors. A search of Scott’s devices revealed her membership in numerous pet adoption groups and evidence of her attempting to sell pelts allegedly from exotic animals – a potential new avenue of criminal activity.

U.S. Attorney Wheeler praised Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany J. Preston for securing this conviction. For Indianapolis residents witnessing animal neglect or abuse, report it directly through RequestIndy online or the Request Indy phone app. Don’t rely on social media; get the information directly to Animal Care Officers for swift investigation. This isn’t just about animals; it’s about a predator who needs to be contained before her depravity escalates.
