Thief Steals Sears Delivery Truck and Contents Worth $50,000 in Homewood

A shocking crime has shaken the quiet streets of Homewood, where a Pittsburgh resident has been indicted on charges of stealing a Sears delivery truck and its contents worth a staggering $50,000.

According to a federal indictment, Anthony Bailey, 37, of Pittsburgh, was accused of stealing the truck and its contents on April 13, 2016. The indictment revealed that the truck, valued at approximately $20,000, was stolen, along with the merchandise inside, worth a whopping $30,000. At the time, the truck and its contents were in transit, moving in interstate commerce.

The indictment, returned yesterday, named Bailey as the perpetrator of the crime. The maximum sentence Bailey faces is up to 10 years in prison, accompanied by a fine of $250,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence would be determined by the seriousness of the offenses and Bailey’s prior criminal history.

Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and communities to prevent, deter, and prosecute gun crime, is behind the prosecution of this case. Assistant United States Attorney Conor Lamb is handling the prosecution on behalf of the government.

The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.

An indictment is merely an accusation, and Bailey is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
