Anthony Dale Randklev, 39, of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, has been charged with illegally possessing a firearm after a federal indictment. The defendant faces 15 years in prison if convicted.
According to the indictment, on or about July 22, 2018, Randklev possessed a Remington model 870 12-gauge shotgun. This is a serious offense, as Randklev has been previously convicted of multiple violent offenses, including assault, drug, and kidnapping convictions.
As a result of these previous convictions, Randklev is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law. If convicted, he will face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison.
Randklev is currently in custody in the Otter Tail County Jail, facing additional charges in Otter Tail County District Court. He is accused of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of kidnapping, one count of first-degree burglary, one count of false imprisonment, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of fleeing a police officer.
The case is the result of an investigation conducted by the ATF, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Otter Tail County Attorney’s Office. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that brings together federal, state, and local law enforcement to combat violent crime.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson is prosecuting the case.
