WHITE PLAINS, NY – A Tarrytown man is facing over 8 years in prison for his role in distributing heroin that contributed to the overdose death of a 25-year-old man.
Anthony Delosangeles, a/k/a ‘Taco,’ 20, of Tarrytown, New York, was sentenced to 84 months in custody, in addition to the 13 months he has already served, for his role in the heroin distribution ring. Delosangeles was also sentenced to four years of supervised release and forfeited approximately $30,000 in cash drug proceeds.
Delosangeles was convicted of conspiracy to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin, and his actions contributed to the overdose death of Thomas Cipollaro, a 25-year-old man who had recently completed a drug rehabilitation program. Delosangeles sold heroin to Cipollaro on November 3, 2015, despite knowing that Cipollaro planned to use the heroin immediately.
‘Anthony Delosangeles sold heroin to a young man he knew had just left a drug rehabilitation program,’ said Acting U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim. ‘The same day, that young man used the heroin Delosangeles sold him, overdosed, and died. The epidemic of opioid abuse is devastating our communities, costing human lives, and ripping families apart. This Office will aggressively pursue cases against dealers who fuel this deadly epidemic.’
Delosangeles’ actions were part of a larger conspiracy to sell at least 100 grams of heroin in the Southern District of New York and elsewhere. The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Yorktown Police Department, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.
The prosecution of this case is being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division. Assistant United States Attorney Maurene Comey is in charge of the case.
