ALBANY, NEW YORK – In a shocking turn of events, 29-year-old William De La Rosa, a Manhattan resident, has pleaded guilty to possessing and intending to distribute a staggering one kilogram of cocaine.
According to sources, De La Rosa was caught in the act when law enforcement searched his vehicle after he arrived at a hotel in Amsterdam, New York, on January 25, 2024. The discovery of the cocaine was a direct result of a joint investigation between the DEA and the Johnstown Police Department.
United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Division, made the announcement, highlighting the severity of the crime and the efforts of the involved law enforcement agencies.
De La Rosa’s guilty plea comes with severe consequences, including a possible sentence of at least 5 years and up to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $5 million, and a term of post-release supervision of between 4 years and life.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikayla Espinosa is prosecuting the case, which is set to conclude on August 16, 2024, when United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci delivers the final verdict.
