A federal grand jury in Utah has returned an indictment charging a West Valley City man with heroin trafficking after 171 grams of the substance was seized during a search warrant execution.
Jose Manuel Osorio-Dominguez, 31, is accused of possessing 171 grams of heroin with intent to distribute. The indictment was returned on April 10, 2025, and his initial appearance is scheduled for April 18, 2025, in U.S. District Court.
According to court documents, detectives with the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force began investigating a drug trafficking organization in February 2025. On April 8, 2025, a 2014 Toyota Corolla was stopped, and a search warrant was executed on the vehicle. Detectives identified Osorio-Dominguez as the driver and 53 grams of field-tested positive heroin was seized.
A subsequent search warrant was executed in Taylorsville, Utah, and an additional 118 grams of field-tested positive heroin and $5,000 was seized. Osorio-Dominguez was taken into custody.
The case is being investigated jointly by the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Special Assistant United States Attorney Peter Reichman of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah is prosecuting the case.
Osorio-Dominguez is charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute in the District of Utah. The indictment is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
Osorio-Dominguez’s initial appearance on the indictment is scheduled for April 18, 2025, at 1:15 p.m. in courtroom 8.4 before a U.S. Magistrate Judge at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City.
