NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – In a shocking turn of events, 45-year-old Anthony Horton, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. The alleged crime took place on Friday, May 24, 2019.
According to sources, Horton is alleged to be an armed career criminal. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years of imprisonment and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a fine up to $250,000, a period of supervised release of not more than 5 years, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00.
U.S. Attorney Peter G. Strasser emphasized that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. This serves as a poignant reminder of the justice system’s commitment to upholding the rights of the accused.
