Bank Robber Sentenced to 40 Months in Prison for Six Valley Bank Robberies
A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his role in six bank robberies that took place in the Phoenix area in 2021.
Anthony Medina, 36, of Phoenix, was sentenced by United States District Judge John J. Tuchi after pleading guilty to two counts of Bank Robbery.
Medina was also ordered to pay full restitution for losses sustained during the six bank robberies, which took place over the course of two months in 2021. The robberies targeted branches of Chase Bank, Desert Financial Credit Union, US Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank in the Phoenix area.
Medina was apprehended after fleeing the scene of the sixth robbery. According to court documents, Medina committed the robberies to obtain money to purchase fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The FBI, assisted by the Phoenix Police Department, conducted the investigation in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Coleen Schoch handled the prosecution.
Medina’s sentence is a result of his guilty plea to two counts of Bank Robbery. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison, which is a significant penalty for his crimes.
The case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of bank robbery and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
