A 31-year-old Missouri man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being caught with a large quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Antoine Demetrius Meeks was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel on Thursday for his role in possessing 208 grams of methamphetamine and 26 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop on August 19, 2022.
The O’Fallon Police Department made the arrest, which was part of a joint investigation with the St. Ann Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Meeks, who was on federal supervised release at the time of the drug offense, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis in December to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
This is not Meeks’ first run-in with the law. He was previously convicted in a 2015 case for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The case against Meeks serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against narcotics trafficking in the region.
The O’Fallon Police Department, St. Ann Police Department, and Drug Enforcement Administration worked together to bring Meeks to justice.
