Kansas City Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Meth Trafficking
Apolinar Gocovachi Pacheco, 26, was sentenced to 8 years in prison without parole for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and for unlawful reentry after removal.
A U.S. District Judge Roseann A. Ketchmark handed down the sentence to Pacheco, a Mexican national, on September 3, 2024, in federal court.
Pacheco’s troubles began on September 3, 2024, when a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a gray 2011 Acura MDX on Interstate 29 near the N.W. 112th Street exit in Kansas City, Missouri.
The trooper searched the vehicle and found a large duffle bag containing approximately 55.6 pounds of methamphetamine, as well as a grocery bag with one pound of methamphetamine and a loaded firearm.
Pacheco told investigators that he arrived in the United States approximately two weeks earlier from Nogales Sonora, Mexico, and entered the country illegally, paying $6,000 to cross the border.
Pacheco stated that he was asked to transport the methamphetamine from Omaha to the Kansas City area by his co-defendant, Pablo DeJesus Peralta Anguis, and promised a significant amount of U.S. currency in return.
Pacheco’s co-defendants, Pedro Alberto Quiroz Ayala and Pablo DeJesus Peralta Anguis, have each pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, and Anguis has also pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry after removal.
Pacheco’s case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad K. Kavanaugh is prosecuting the case.
The case was investigated by the FBI, DEA, Jackson County Drug Task Force, Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
