COLUMBIA, S.C. — The grimy halls of justice have witnessed a significant sentence for Antonie Elbert Eaddy, 49, from Goodyear, Arizona. Eaddy has been sentenced to serve 11 years in federal prison for his involvement in a massive drug conspiracy that stretched across state lines.
Eaddy was charged with conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, 5 kilograms of cocaine, 400 grams of fentanyl, and marijuana. The evidence against him was as compelling as it was chilling; intercepted phone calls revealed plans to send drugs from Arizona to South Carolina, all while concealing them in everyday items such as clocks and sending proceeds back across state lines.
The DEA and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service have been relentless in their pursuit of Eaddy’s drug ring. They unearthed a network that distributed 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, 400 grams of fentanyl, and unspecified quantities of crack cocaine and marijuana, all while using couriers to shuttle drugs to the east coast.
Eaddy was not alone in this conspiracy; four others were charged alongside him in South Carolina. All five have pleaded guilty to their roles, marking a significant victory for law enforcement agencies involved in the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation.
Judge Mary Geiger Lewis handed down a severe sentence of 135 months imprisonment followed by a five-year term of court-ordered supervision. There is no parole in the federal system, ensuring Eaddy’s time behind bars will be complete.
This operation is part of an OCDETF investigation that identifies and dismantles high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations. Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon prosecuted this case, demonstrating the dedication of federal law enforcement to keeping America safe from organized crime.
