Arizona’s Matthew M. Peeples faces 12½ years in federal prison for his despicable crime of receiving child pornography. The 44-year-old Pine resident pleaded guilty and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley.
Peeples’ predatory actions were revealed when the father of a 16-year-old girl reported disturbing Snapchat messages to law enforcement. The messages showed explicit images involving his daughter and her family dog, leading to the discovery of Peeples’ sinister behavior.
The defendant engaged in chilling conversations with the teenager, asking her to perform sexual acts with her pet. When she complied, he recorded the incident and attempted to persuade others to engage in similar behavior. His manipulative tactics spanned over a decade, according to his own admission.
Judge Conley emphasized the gravity of Peeples’ actions, noting that he coerced the victim into participating in humiliating acts for his sexual gratification. The judge was also disturbed by Peeples’ double life, with those close to him unaware of his online horror.
Investigation and prosecution were a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and local police departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman handled the case with unwavering dedication.
