Fayetteville, Arkansas – In a stunning blow to the drug trade in Northwest Arkansas, Allen Dwight Gailliot, 62 of Fayetteville, and Leslie Erin Curtis, 45 of Bella Vista, have been sentenced to over 22 years in federal prison for their roles in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy.
United States Attorney Kenneth Elser announced that Gailliot was handed down a sentence of 151 months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release, and a $3,400 fine. Curtis received 121 months behind bars with the same supervised release term and a $5,900 fine.
The sentencing, presided over by Judge Timothy L. Brooks in the United States District Court in Fayetteville, marked the culmination of an investigation that began when Curtis sold one ounce of meth to an undercover source in March 2016. A subsequent search of their homes turned up nearly half a pound of methamphetamine, digital scales, baggies, drug ledgers, and packages from the USPS addressed to Gailliot.
Further evidence pointed to an organized operation, with court records indicating that Curtis and Gailliot ordered pounds of meth from California via mail. The drugs were then distributed throughout Washington County. A search of a storage unit in Fayetteville revealed four pounds of methamphetamine in USPS parcels addressed to Gailliot.
Gailliot and Curtis were indicted by a federal grand jury in May 2016, pleading guilty in September of that year. The 4th Judicial Drug Task Force led the investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Denis Dean prosecuting the case.
The sentence handed down sends a clear message about the severity of methamphetamine trafficking, ensuring these kingpins will remain off the streets for years to come.
