Michigan Election Officials Emphasize Election Integrity

DETROIT, Michigan – In a move to protect the integrity of the November 3, 2020 general election, Assistant U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison has been appointed as the District Election Officer for the Eastern District of Michigan.

AUSA Ison will oversee complaints of election fraud and voting rights concerns in consultation with Justice Department Headquarters in Washington.

U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider emphasized the importance of election safety and security, stating, ‘For over a year, our office has significantly increased our focus on making sure the election is safe and secure. We are on the lookout for both local intimidation of voters and foreign interference in our election.’

Federal law protects voters from intimidation, bribery, and other forms of election interference. The Election Day Program aims to ensure public confidence in the integrity of the election process by providing local points of contact within the Department for the public to report possible election fraud and voting rights violations.

The public can reach AUSA Ison at (313) 226-9567 during the voting period. The FBI will also have Special Agents available to receive allegations of election fraud and other election abuses on election day.
