Joshua Simard, 31, of Auburn, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for drug trafficking and firearms offenses, according to United States Attorney Scott W. Murray.
The incident unfolded on July 31, 2018, when law enforcement officers in Bedford, New Hampshire, apprehended Simard at a local hotel. During the raid, authorities seized two backpacks from Simard, containing a handgun, ammunition, over $6,000 in cash, over 150 grams of cocaine, digital scales, and a suspected drug ledger.
Simard is set to be sentenced on September 16, 2019, for his crimes. U.S. Attorney Murray emphasized the dangers posed by drug traffickers with firearms, stating, ‘Guns and drugs are a potentially lethal combination. When drug traffickers possess firearms, they pose a very serious danger to the community. In order to protect the public, we will aggressively prosecute armed drug dealers.’
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bedford Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Krasinski handling the prosecution.
