New Orleans, LA – The grimy underbelly of Baton Rouge Parish witnessed another chapter in its criminal saga as Jarrett Hall, 33, from Baker, was charged by the United States Attorney’s Office for being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to court documents, on December 8, 2023, Hall is alleged to have knowingly possessed a Colt Model Commander, a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, after having previously been convicted of a felony.
Should he be found guilty, Hall faces a daunting sentence of up to 15 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100. The severity of the charges underscores the gravity of his alleged offense.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans reminded the public that the current indictment is merely a charging document and that Hall’s guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by uniting law enforcement agencies with the communities they serve. Launched on May 26, 2021, this strategy focuses on fostering trust, supporting community organizations, setting enforcement priorities, and measuring results to ensure safer neighborhoods for all.
The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in collaboration with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Briana Williams of the Narcotics Unit is handling the prosecution.
