The District Court, S.D. New York has handed down a life sentence to ex-drug kingpin James Baker in what federal prosecutors are calling one of the largest drug trafficking operations in recent memory.
Baker, aged 40, from Brooklyn, New York, was indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl. The operation, which spanned several states, is estimated to have involved over $50 million in illegal drug sales.
The case, United States v. Baker, docket number 1:22-cr-00200, was a landmark prosecution that saw the defendant’s extensive network of suppliers and distributors brought to justice. The investigation spanned two years and resulted in the seizure of thousands of pounds of drugs and millions of dollars in cash.
