ALBANY, NEW YORK – In a gritty turn of events, bank robbery conspirators Luke Kenna, also known as ‘Lt.,’ and Michael Brown Jr., going by ‘Russ’ and ‘Doc Grimson,’ were sentenced to substantial prison terms for their roles in plotting an armed heist. Kenna, 44, from Gloversville, New York, was handed a 41-month sentence, while Brown Jr., 43, of Exton, Pennsylvania, received 37 months.
According to the United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli, both men had conspired with Brian Tierney, alias ‘Wodanaz,’ to rob a bank branch in Johnstown, New York, between November 14 and 27, 2022. Kenna’s role involved surveillance and weapon procurement, while Brown Jr. provided surveillance support from Pennsylvania.
The plot was thwarted when law enforcement stepped in, but the consequences were severe. Both conspirators have been ordered to serve a 3-year term of supervised release upon their release from prison. Kenna also forfeited a rifle used in the scheme.
Brian Tierney, the third member of the conspiracy, is scheduled for sentencing on August 16, 2024. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the FBI Albany Field Office’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and various local agencies, including the New York State Police.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander Wentworth-Ping led the prosecution in this high-profile case, ensuring justice for the thwarted bank heist attempt.
