Andrew Michael Hebert, Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes, Louisiana 2022

BATON ROUGE, LA — A 24-year-old Baton Rouge man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly attempting to pay for sex with a juvenile, state officials confirm. Andrew Michael Hebert now faces multiple felony charges, including Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes, Indecent Behavior with Juveniles, and Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor, following a sting operation in West Baton Rouge Parish.

According to Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, Hebert traveled from East Baton Rouge Parish with the intent to meet a minor female for sexual acts in exchange for money. The meeting was arranged online, but instead of a child, Hebert encountered undercover agents. He was taken into custody moments after arriving at the arranged location in Port Allen and booked into West Baton Rouge Jail without incident.

The operation was conducted by a multi-agency task force targeting individuals attempting to exploit minors. Participating agencies include the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Port Allen Police Department, Sulphur Police Department, and West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say the investigation utilized digital surveillance and undercover tactics to identify and apprehend suspects seeking to engage in illegal sexual activity with children.

“Sex trafficking is a hideous crime with an ever-lasting impact on those victimized,” said Attorney General Jeff Landry. “So my office and I will continue to work with law enforcement agencies across our State to bring an end to this travesty.” Landry emphasized that these operations will continue until predators are removed from communities.

Hebert remains in custody without bond as the investigation continues. If convicted on all charges, he faces decades in prison and lifetime registration as a sex offender. Prosecutors are reviewing digital evidence, including chat logs and geolocation data, to build a comprehensive case ahead of trial.

This arrest marks the latest in a series of crackdowns on sex trafficking and online solicitation in Louisiana. Law enforcement officials urge anyone with information about similar activity to contact the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office immediately. They warn that even attempted contact with a minor for sexual purposes carries severe penalties under state and federal law.
