Brandon Singleton, Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, South Carolina 2024

CHARLESTON, SC — The grim reaper of the Beaufort gun and drug trade met his fate today as Brandon Singleton, 34, from Seabrook, South Carolina, was sentenced to a staggering 248 months in federal prison without parole by Judge Richard M. Gergel.

Singleton and his five co-defendants faced a litany of charges stemming from a 22-count indictment that alleged the trafficking of cocaine and firearms across Beaufort County. Singleton himself pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine, felon in possession of firearms, and possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking offenses.

The investigation by state and federal agents was as gritty as it gets. Undercover operations resulted in the purchase of nine firearms and over 700 grams of cocaine from Singleton and his crew. Law enforcement officials also seized 14 firearms throughout the probe, including stolen weapons and high-capacity magazines.

Singleton, the alleged mastermind of the operation, orchestrated and directed all of these transactions. His conviction was the culmination of a collaborative effort by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, and investigators with the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

In an emotional response to Singleton’s sentence, U.S. Attorney Beth Drake emphasized the importance of teamwork, saying, ‘We work best when we work together. Many thanks to the Beaufort County Sheriff and ATF for making South Carolina safer.’ ATF Resident Agent in Charge Scott Perala echoed these sentiments, noting that this sentence was a result of an outstanding partnership between law enforcement agencies.

Assistant United States Attorney Emily Limehouse and Special Assistant United States Attorney Carra Henderson led the prosecution against Singleton. The grim tally of drugs and guns taken off the streets serves as a stark reminder of the effectiveness of joint efforts in combating organized crime.
