Beaumont Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking
A 48-year-old man from Beaumont, Mississippi, has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. Joseph Daniel Land, 48, was handed down an 84-month sentence by U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola, Jr. in addition to four years of supervised release.
The charges against Land stem from a 2016 sting operation in McLain, Mississippi, where he sold two ounces of methamphetamine to a confidential source. Further investigation revealed that Land was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine, and he was subsequently charged in a federal indictment with possession with intent to distribute.
Land’s involvement in the methamphetamine trade was significant, with authorities estimating that he was responsible for selling over 500 grams of the substance between September 2016 and April 2017. His guilty plea to the charges was entered on January 22, 2019.
The case against Land was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Meynardie. The investigation was part of a broader effort to combat methamphetamine trafficking in the region.
Land’s sentence is a significant blow to those involved in the methamphetamine trade, and it serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in such activities. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
The case is a reminder that law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to combat the scourge of methamphetamine trafficking in the state of Mississippi.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi are to be commended for their efforts in bringing this case to justice.
