Cocaine Possession Charges Land 46-Year-Old Beaver Falls Man in Hot Water
A Beaver Falls man has been slapped with federal narcotics charges after a grand jury indicted him on two counts of cocaine possession, a Grimy Times investigation has uncovered.
According to the indictment, Jamar Kenya Turner, 46, allegedly possessed a quantity of a mixture and substance containing cocaine with the intent to distribute on or about October 9, 2020.
But that wasn’t the only time Turner allegedly crossed the line – on or about January 4, 2021, he allegedly unlawfully possessed 28 grams or more of cocaine base, commonly known as crack, with the intent to distribute.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than 20 years, a fine not to exceed $5,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of Turner.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
It’s worth noting that an indictment is simply an accusation. Turner is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The charges against Turner are a stark reminder of the ongoing fight against narcotics trafficking in our community.
A spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General called the charges ‘a significant blow to organized crime’ in the area.
