Bengi Bernard Knox, PCP Conspiracy, Maryland 2024

Greenbelt, Maryland – Today, Bengi Bernard Knox, 47, of White Plains, Maryland, faced Judge Lydia K. Griggsby as he was sentenced to nine years in prison for his role in a PCP conspiracy. Knox’s sentence also includes four years of supervised release.

Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, and key law enforcement officials announced the harsh sentence during today’s hearing. According to court records, Knox conspired with Kevin Lee Simon, Jr., Malik Marvin Lloyd, and others to distribute and possess PCP, a Schedule II controlled substance.

The investigation began when Knox met with Lloyd on January 5, 2023, in Washington, D.C. During this meeting, law enforcement observed Lloyd exit Knox’s vehicle carrying a vial of PCP. The following day, the two again met to exchange money for the previous day’s distribution.

On February 7, 2023, Simon informed Knox about a new source of high-quality PCP at an increased cost, reflecting the drug’s potency and value. On March 29, 2023, federal agents executed search warrants on Knox’s residence in Maryland, where they recovered substantial amounts of PCP, cocaine, and heroin/fentanyl, along with firearms and cash.

Knox was not alone; his co-defendants Simon and Lloyd were also sentenced for their roles. Simon received a 12-year sentence, while Lloyd was handed an eight-year term. The case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which targets the highest-level drug traffickers across multiple jurisdictions.

U.S. Attorney Hayes commended the DEA, ATF, and PGPD for their dedication to dismantling criminal networks in Maryland. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Coreen Mao and Timothy Hagan were recognized for their efforts in prosecuting this case.
