Bernard Savage, a former Alburgh Selectman, and his wife Patricia Savage, were sentenced today in the United States District Court in Burlington, Vermont for their roles in a cocaine trafficking operation.

According to court documents, Bernard Savage, 57, was sentenced to 15 months in prison, with the U.S. District Court Judge William K. Sessions III ordering him to forfeit $75,000 to the government, pay a fine of $5,000, and serve a three-year term of supervised release upon completion of his sentence.

Patricia Savage, 57, was sentenced to one month in prison, with Judge Sessions ordering her to begin serving her sentence immediately.

The court also ordered Bernard Savage to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on March 7, 2017, to begin serving his sentence.

The investigation into Bernard Savage’s activities began in August 2014, when the Vermont Drug Task Force launched an investigation into his distribution of powder cocaine and oxycodone.

During the investigation, a confidential informant working with the Task Force made seven controlled purchases of either oxycodone or powder cocaine from Bernard and/or his wife Patricia, with Bernard’s interactions with the CI being recorded and revealing his brazen statements about his drug dealing activities.

On July 1, 2015, law enforcement executed a search warrant at the Savage residence in Alburgh, recovering 103 firearms, cocaine, a variety of opiate pills, marijuana, approximately $20,000 in cash, scales, various cell phones, and the remnants of a meth lab.

The case was investigated by the DEA, Vermont Drug Task Force, and the FBI, with the United States represented by Wendy Fuller, Bernard Savage represented by Karen Shingler, and Patricia Savage represented by Norman Blais.
