Bethlehem Man Charged in 6 Robberies

A 29-year-old Bethlehem man has been charged with six counts of robbery that interfered with interstate commerce, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Herik A. Jaramillo, 29, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was charged by Indictment with six counts of robbery, which violates the Hobbs Act. If convicted on all counts, Jaramillo faces a maximum sentence of 120 years in prison, plus possible fines, supervised release, and special assessments.

The case was investigated by the Bethlehem Police Department, the Lehigh Valley Violent Gang Task Force, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy M. Stengel will be prosecuting the case.

Jaramillo is presumed innocent until proven guilty. An Indictment is an accusation, and the outcome of the case will depend on the evidence presented in court.

The case is being brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. The program was reinvigorated in 2017 by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has made addressing rising violent crime a top priority.

The PSN program has been successful in bringing together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime. By working together, law enforcement agencies can make a significant impact on crime rates and improve public safety.

Herik A. Jaramillo’s case is a reminder of the importance of addressing violent crime in our communities. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators to justice and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
