Major Cocaine Distribution Operation Dismantled in North Carolina

A major cocaine distribution organization known as Blew Ni’Ru has been dismantled in North Carolina, with 26 individuals charged and 23 sentenced to prison time. The operation, which spanned four years and five counties, was led by the Jacksonville Police Department’s Special Operations Division.

The investigation, code-named Operation Blew Ni’Ru, targeted a cocaine trafficking organization that had been operating in the Jacksonville area since the mid-1990s. The organization was responsible for distributing large amounts of cocaine powder and crack in the surrounding areas.

United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced the completion of the OCDETF prosecution, stating that the defendants ‘created havoc on the law-abiding residents in the area by their distribution of large amounts of cocaine.’

Mr. Walker’s office stands ready to prosecute organizations like Blew Ni’Ru to the full extent of the law to hold those who put profit ahead of public safety accountable.

The sentences in these cases range from 24 months to 262 months imprisonment. See the attached list of individual defendants and their sentences.

Operation Blew Ni’Ru was a multi-agency effort involving federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. The investigation required a significant investment of investigative manpower and resources, resulting in a considerable impact on the level of drug activity in the community.

The Jacksonville Police Department’s Special Operations Division led the investigation, which was supported by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Carteret County Sheriff’s Office, and Craven County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Rudy E. Renfer prosecuted the cases for the government.
