Blue Daniel Densmore, Meth Trafficking, ID 2024

Boise is reeling after two local men were slapped with federal charges tied to a heavy load of methamphetamine and an arsenal of illegal firearms. Blue Daniel Densmore, 39, and Avery Allen Erickson, 47, both of Boise, Idaho, were arrested yesterday on charges of drug and firearm trafficking, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson confirmed.

A federal grand jury returned the indictment Tuesday, charging both men with one count of conspiracy to possess over fifty grams of actual methamphetamine with intent to distribute—a crime punishable by up to life in prison. In addition, Densmore and Erickson face three separate counts of possessing approximately three-hundred grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, in violation of Title 21, United States Code Section 841(a)(1).

Densmore, a convicted felon, is staring down extra federal heat for illegally possessing multiple firearms and ammunition. He’s been indicted on three firearm counts under Title 18, United States Code Section 922(g)(1), and Title 26, United States Code Section 5861(d), for possession of: a Stallard, Model JS9, 9mm pistol; a Chiappa Firearms Ltd., Model 1911-22, .22 pistol; a Marlin Model 60, .22 rifle; a Norinco Model SKS, 7.62×39 rifle; a modified J.C. Higgins 16-gauge shotgun with barrel under 18 inches; and approximately 1,280 rounds of 7.62 x 39 ammunition.

The charges paint a picture of a high-volume, high-risk operation rooted in Idaho’s capital city. Authorities say the meth bust and illegal weapons cache indicate a pattern of distribution and armed readiness that federal prosecutors aren’t taking lightly. The sheer volume of drugs and firepower suggests this was no street-level hustle.

The investigation was a joint effort between the Boise Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Agents moved swiftly after gathering evidence pointing to the pair’s alleged trafficking network, culminating in yesterday’s arrests and the unsealing of the indictment.

Densmore and Erickson are set for their initial appearance tomorrow before U.S. Magistrate Judge Candy W. Dale in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. With life on the line and federal prosecutors building a case around hard evidence, their next steps will be closely watched by law enforcement and the public alike.
