HARRISBURG – A superseding indictment unsealed on August 23, 2017, has revealed that two men from Jonestown and Lykens, Pennsylvania, are accused of running a multi-state heroin and fentanyl trafficking operation.
Kerry L. Boltz, Sr., 54, of Jonestown, and Chester L. Hubler, III, 38, of Lykens, were charged with conspiracy to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine, methamphetamine distribution, heroin distribution, fentanyl distribution, and firearms charges.
The indictment, filed on August 9, 2017, alleges that Boltz and Hubler conspired to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine between February 2017 and April 2017, and that the two distributed methamphetamine on multiple occasions during that time period.
According to the indictment, Boltz distributed heroin and fentanyl, unlawfully possessed firearms, including a Marlin Firearms Company 336CS 30-30 caliber rifle, a Mossberg Model 46M 22-caliber rifle, and a Weatherly Orion 12-gauge shotgun, as a previously convicted felon. He also possessed a short-barreled shotgun that was not properly registered.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carlo D. Marchioli.
This case was brought as part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic regarding the use and distribution of heroin, as well as the violent crime initiative led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Indictments are only allegations and all persons charged are presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
