Bond Threatens BOP Admin

A federal inmate, John Robert Bond, 55, has been charged with making threats against a federal official, specifically the Federal Bureau of Prisons Camp Administrator, according to an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas.

The indictment alleges that on May 25, 2025, Bond, a federal inmate housed with the Bureau of Prisons in Beaumont, threatened to assault and murder the administrator. This case is being investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John B. Ross.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced the indictment, which is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal immigration, achieving the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protecting communities from perpetrators of violent crime.

Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN). The initiative demonstrates the Department of Justice’s commitment to combating violent crime and ensuring public safety.

If convicted, Bond faces up to 10 years in federal prison. A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The case against Bond highlights the importance of holding individuals accountable for threatening federal officials. The Bureau of Prisons and other law enforcement agencies work tirelessly to maintain order and ensure the safety of staff and inmates within federal correctional facilities.

In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney Combs emphasized the gravity of the charges against Bond, noting that threats against federal officials will not be tolerated. The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime and protect the community.
