A 40-year-old man from Bowdoin, Maine has been sentenced to two years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. David Forrest Noel was handed down the sentence in U.S. District Court by Judge D. Brock Hornby on [Date Removed].
Noel pleaded guilty to the charges on June 22, 2017. According to court records, he was required to register as a sex offender due to a conviction in Massachusetts in 2010 for indecent assault and battery on a child.
After registering as a sex offender in Massachusetts, Noel moved to Maine in 2016, but failed to notify authorities of his move and failed to register as a sex offender in Maine.
The investigation into Noel’s actions was conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Noel’s conviction stems from his failure to comply with federal laws regarding sex offender registration. The sentence includes five years of supervised release following his two-year prison term.
U.S. Attorney Halsey B. Frank announced the sentence. A spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the investigation.
