Mail Carrier Shot in Spring Branch

A US Mail carrier was shot in the leg by 22-year-old Bradley A’Hearn on February 11, 2017, in Spring Branch, Texas, after she refused to give him her cell phone. The victim is recovering from a gunshot wound.

A’Hearn allegedly shot the carrier while delivering mail to a cluster of mailboxes, and then fled the scene in the victim’s pickup truck, which still contained the victim’s purse and personal effects as well as a considerable amount of US Mail.

Sara Richford, 26, was allegedly driving a maroon/brown colored Toyota Venza that followed A’Hearn as he left the scene.

On February 13, 2017, a US Postal Inspection Service agent recognized the Toyota Venza and attempted to stop the vehicle. However, A’Hearn allegedly fired upon the agent, and other law enforcement personnel who joined the pursuit were also fired upon.

A’Hearn managed to avoid capture, but not before leaving a trail of evidence behind. On February 14, 2017, agents recovered a large amount of US Mail and a handgun case in a local motel room, and discovered that the defendants had been using a yellow Volkswagen to evade law enforcement.

After a high-speed chase, the defendants abandoned their vehicle in a parking garage of a local mall and managed to elude capture. However, they were eventually arrested on February 15, 2017, in a parking lot of a different local motel.

Bradley A’Hearn, Sara Richford, and Piper Lee, 40, have been charged with multiple counts related to the mail theft scheme, including aiding and abetting assault of a federal officer, aiding and abetting use of a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of stolen mail.
