Brandon Everett Barker, a 36-year-old resident of Austin, Texas, has pleaded guilty to possession of an electronic image of currency in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
According to court documents, Barker, along with co-defendant Michelle Denise Carson, 39, of Indianapolis, Indiana, were found to have unlawfully and with intent to defraud, had in their control, custody, and possession, a digital and electronic image of an obligation or other security of the United States, specifically a one hundred dollar bill, on or about September 17, 2017.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Atoka Police Department and the United States Secret Service.
Barker and Carson each pled guilty to one count of Possession Of An Electronic Image Of An Obligation Of The United States, in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Sections 474(a) and 2, punishable by not more than 25 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000.00 fine, or both.
The Honorable Kimberly E. West, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
Assistant United States Attorney Rob Wallace represented the United States.
Barker and Carson’s sentencing is pending the completion of a presentence investigation report.
The investigation into the case was conducted by the Atoka Police Department and the United States Secret Service.
