Brandon Farmer, a 21-year-old man from Philadelphia, Mississippi, has been sentenced to 108 months in prison for engaging in sexual contact with a minor under the age of 12. U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge Tom S. Lee on July 31, 2014.
The crime occurred on the tribal lands of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Farmer previously pleaded guilty to the charge. As part of his sentence, Farmer will also be required to register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Choctaw Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Lemon prosecuted the case.
Brandon Farmer’s sentence is a consequence of his actions, which have caused irreparable harm to the victim and their family. The sentence also serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar behavior.
