In a disturbing display of violence, two men have been charged with committing hate crimes in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Brandon Killian and Devan Johnson, both of Oklahoma, have been accused of willfully causing bodily injury to two victims because of the perceived or actual race of one of the victims, a Black man.

The brutal attacks occurred on June 22, 2019, at the Brickhouse Saloon in Shawnee, Oklahoma, according to the indictment. The victims, identified only as J.C. and M.W., were reportedly assaulted in the parking lot. If convicted, Killian and Johnson each face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

The case is being investigated by the Oklahoma City FBI Field Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julia Barry of the Western District of Oklahoma and Trial Attorney Avner Shapiro of the Civil Rights Division.
