Brandon Lee Pruitt, a 27-year-old casino employee from Anadarko, Oklahoma, is headed to federal prison for a decade after admitting to distributing child pornography across the web. The grim outcome closes a nearly four-year investigation rooted in digital depravity and abuse of trust, federal prosecutors confirm.
Pruitt, once employed at Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton—a facility operating on tribal land held in trust for the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes—used his access to technology and the internet to share illegal material between August 20, 2015, and March 13, 2018. His crimes unfolded in Indian Country, triggering federal jurisdiction and a probe led by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
A federal grand jury indicted Pruitt on July 17, 2018, on two counts: one for distributing child pornography and another for accessing it via a cloud-based storage service using a cell phone. He pleaded guilty to the distribution charge on October 2, 2018. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropped the second count, but the damage was already laid bare in court filings and digital evidence.
U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti handed down the maximum 120-month sentence, underscoring the severity of the offense. Following his release, Pruitt will spend eight years under federal supervision—subject to restrictions on internet use, mandatory counseling, and ongoing monitoring by probation officers.
At the time of his arrest, Pruitt wasn’t locked up—he was living in a halfway house under court-ordered pretrial release. That changed on September 4, 2018, when U.S. Marshals took him into custody after evidence solidified. His fall from conditional freedom to a ten-year sentence marks a stark end to a case that exposed vulnerabilities in oversight for offenders with digital access.
The investigation was a joint effort between the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Anadarko Police Department, and the U.S. Secret Service’s Oklahoma Financial and Electronic Crimes Task Force. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale and falls under Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative launched in 2006 to combat online child exploitation.
