A Lawrence man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography in Kansas.
Brian Fuchs, 49, of Lawrence, Kan., pleaded guilty to one count of distributing child pornography, admitting investigators found approximately 2,000 images and 200 videos containing child pornography on his computer.
The FBI used an internet peer-to-peer file sharing program to download child pornography from Fuchs before serving a search warrant at his home.
As part of his plea, Fuchs agreed to pay $20,000 restitution to the victims.
Sentencing is set for April 22, with Fuchs facing a penalty of not less than five years, not more than 20 years, and a fine up to $250,000.
U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister commended the FBI and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Flannigan for their work on the case.
The case highlights the importance of online vigilance and the consequences of those who engage in distributing child pornography.
