Frank Joseph Kurtz, a 70-year-old Overland Park man, has been found guilty of distributing child pornography online. The despicable act was discovered after an investigation by the Israeli National Police identified emails sent by Kurtz, who posed as a 46-year-old woman named ‘Lisayearning46.’
The FBI in Kansas followed the digital trail to Kurtz, who had registered with Yahoo under the name ‘Lisa Lewis’ and used an image he found online as his profile picture.
Kurtz admitted to distributing child pornography as part of his guilty plea. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 10. Both the prosecution and defense have agreed to recommend a sentence of 97 months in federal prison.
U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the FBI, the Heart of America Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Flannigan for their work on the case.
Kurtz’s actions are a stark reminder of the severity of the issue of child pornography. The distribution of such content is a heinous crime that can have long-lasting effects on its victims.
