A Bangor, Main man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.
According to court records, between January 2017 and August 2018, Brian Holmes and other members of the conspiracy distributed large quantities of methamphetamine in northern Maine.
Holmes, 42, pleaded guilty in February 2020 and was sentenced to 200 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker.
As part of the conspiracy, Holmes and other members obtained the drugs from out-of-state sources in Colorado and Arizona, sending thousands of dollars in cash to those sources to supply its drug trafficking enterprise.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigated the case, which is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation.
OCDETF uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach that leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies against criminal networks.
The prosecution is a significant blow to the methamphetamine trade in northern Maine, and law enforcement agencies are working to disrupt and dismantle the remaining networks.
Brian Holmes is currently serving his sentence and will be on supervised release for 10 years after his release from prison.
