Bell’s Descent into Methamphetamine Dealing Ends in Prison Sentence
Council Bluffs, IA – Brian James Bell, a 22-year-old man from Mount Vernon, Washington, has been brought to justice for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
On Friday, September 30, 2022, Bell appeared in court and pleaded guilty to a charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. The court took into account the severity of the crime and sentenced Bell to 66 months in prison.
The case against Bell began in June 2021, when he was involved in a traffic accident on Interstate 29. Law enforcement responded to the scene and observed Bell carrying a backpack away from the accident site. A probable cause search of the vehicle and backpack uncovered 97 grams of methamphetamine and two loaded firearms.
The investigation into Bell’s activities was a collaborative effort between the Pottawattamie Sheriff’s Office and the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force. Their diligence and expertise helped bring Bell to justice and prevent further harm to the community.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement, highlighting the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions. The sentence handed down to Bell serves as a reminder that methamphetamine trafficking will not be tolerated in our community.
