Bruce Morris, Murder and Narcotics Conspiracy, New York 2016

BRUCE MORRIS, a/k/a ‘G’, has been handed a 27-year sentence after being convicted of the August 2016 murder of Jerome Jemison in the Bronx. The sentence also includes a five-year term of supervised release for Morris, who was found guilty by a jury in January 2025 of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and heroin, as well as using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during that conspiracy.

U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton commented on the heinous nature of Morris’s crimes, stating, ‘In 2016, Bruce Morris murdered Jerome Jemison in the middle of the day on the landing of a public stairwell of an apartment building in the Bronx—a building that he terrorized for over a decade.’ The judge further ruled that Morris was responsible for the murder.

Public filings and court proceedings revealed that Morris had been leading a drug conspiracy since at least 2012, selling crack cocaine and heroin from an apartment on Faile Street in the Hunts Point neighborhood. His operation included threats of violence, acts of violence, and even brandishing a firearm when confronted by the building’s superintendent.

The shooting of Sal, who was 46 years old at the time, occurred over a drug debt on August 11, 2016. This violent act is just one incident in the long history of Morris’s reign of terror.

Morris, now 43 years old, will begin serving his sentence immediately after being sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman. The investigation and prosecution were handled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York City Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Weinberg, Camille L. Fletcher, Jeffrey W. Coyle, Jackie Delligatti, and Marguerite B. Colson leading the charge.

This case is a stark reminder of the impact of drug trafficking on communities, and the tireless work of law enforcement in bringing criminals to justice.
