Brooklyn Gun Ring Dismantled: Louisdor et al. Indicted for Arms Smuggling

Federally, the Brooklyn Gun Ring is no more as authorities dismantle a notorious firearms smuggling operation. United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Breon Peace, announced yesterday’s six-count indictment against Yashiya Louisdor, Zaire Alman, Marques Seals, and an at-large defendant, all charged with conspiring to traffic over 40 firearms within three months.

Armed with intelligence and coordination, law enforcement recovered 33 guns during yesterday’s arrests. Louisdor, Alman, and Seals will face arraignment this afternoon before United States Magistrate Judge Vera M. Scanlon, while the fourth suspect remains on the loose. U.S. Attorney Peace emphasized that the ring’s efforts to sell firearms near a school were especially heinous.

NYPD Commissioner Edward A. Caban echoed these sentiments, highlighting the NYPD’s relentless pursuit of gun traffickers and commitment to eradicating violence across New York City. ATF Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Thomas Kalogiros praised the joint efforts of ATF agents and NYPD officers, noting their collaboration in disrupting this trafficking ring.

According to court documents, the defendants are accused of selling illegal firearms, including semi-automatics with defaced serial numbers, between February and April 2024. The firearms were allegedly transported from Georgia to Brooklyn for street-level sales, often occurring in broad daylight near busy intersections and public transport hubs.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office General Crimes Section is handling the prosecution with Assistant United States Attorney Katherine P. Onyshko leading the case. Louisdor, Alman, and Seals are all from Brooklyn, with Alman hailing from Douglasville, Georgia. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Joining forces to make New York streets safer, the ATF and NYPD demonstrate the power of collaborative law enforcement in combating organized crime and gun violence.
