EZEKIEL BAILEY, Identity Theft, Connecticut 2023

New Haven’s grimy halls witnessed a chilling plea as EZEKIEL BAILEY, the 33-year-old Brooklyn villain, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty to an identity theft charge stemming from a U.S. Postal Service fraud scheme.

According to court documents, the U.S Postal Inspection Service embarked on this investigation following reports of someone passing bad checks to amass thousands in postage stamps at various post offices across Connecticut and neighboring states. It was Bailey’s sinister scheme that unraveled, with the investigation revealing his cunning use of three separate victims’ identities, fake driver’s licenses, and checks from empty bank accounts to purchase $98,000 worth of stamps.

On January 20, 2023, justice caught up with Bailey when he attempted a bolder move — purchasing 25 books of postage stamps for $300 in Stonington. His arrest yielded two fake driver’s licenses bearing the names of identity theft victims and his federal charges followed on November 26, 2024.

Today’s guilty plea sees Bailey facing an impending two-year mandatory prison term for aggravated identity theft. Sentencing is set for December 9, with a $25,000 bond keeping him out of the clink until then.

This investigation was a collaborative effort by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel George is handling the prosecution.
