BOSTON, MA – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, Bryan Horgan, a 58-year-old Boston man and registered sex offender, has been indicted for possession of child pornography.
Horgan was initially charged by complaint on April 26, 2024, and has remained in custody since then. The indictment alleges that Horgan was identified as the owner of a Microsoft account uploading child pornography, and during a search of his residence, investigators found several video files of child pornography depicting children as young as infants on one of his electronic devices.
According to the charging documents, Horgan’s prior convictions include rape of a child, assault to rape a child, indecent assault and battery on a child, disseminating obscene material to a minor, and possession of child pornography.
Horgan’s current charge of possession of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to 20 years in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, with valuable assistance from the Boston Police Department.
Bryan Horgan is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
