A shocking case of medical malfeasance has come to light with the sentencing of BRYAN WILSON, a 40-year-old nurse from Madison, Connecticut.
On January 9, 2023, WILSON was set to begin serving a 24-month prison sentence for one count of tampering with a consumer product, specifically fentanyl vials at The Vascular Experts, a Connecticut company.
According to court documents, WILSON, who is no longer a licensed nurse, had access to secure areas containing vials of drugs used as anesthetics, including fentanyl.
In August and September 2021, WILSON took vials of fentanyl intended for patient use, injected saline into the vials to conceal the missing narcotics, and used the stolen fentanyl to treat a medical condition.
When another nurse at the company discovered the tampered vials, WILSON admitted to stealing the fentanyl during questioning by company officials.
BRYAN WILSON was required to pay a $5,000 fine and surrender his nursing license as part of his sentencing.
This case was investigated by the Food and Drug Administration, Office of Criminal Investigations; the DEA’s Hartford Diversion Control Division; and the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Drug Control Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ray Miller prosecuted the case.
